Learn Your Favorite Songs!

Weekly lessons are $40 for a half hour lesson and $60 for an hour lesson, in person or online. I have students in Michigan and all across the country: California, Chicago, Texas, New York, Colorado, Connecticut, Louisiana, and Florida.

Free trial lessons are available! I offer flexible scheduling and payment options, please ask about my discounts.

I keep lessons positive, relaxed, and I always welcome questions. I like to teach by demonstrating, students will be listening every lesson. Here’s the process we’ll go through every week:

 1.  Warm-up with basics: scales/chords/patterns related to our current music. Reviewing the right technique, posture, and hand positions.

2.  Review music from last week’s lesson.

3.  Learn new music, making sure to go slowly and find the correct hand positions/stickings/rhythms.

4. Take notes on what the student played today, and their assignment for the week.

5. Daily Practice

6. Repeat

I have a warm personality, and I'm great at working with students of all types, ages 4 to 60+. My students have fun and learn quickly, because I keep it positive and meet them where they are. You can expect to play music you enjoy while developing great technique and reading skills. I teach how to learn music by ear, read sheet music, play solos, and how to play with a band. Whether it’s your first lesson or you’re preparing for an audition, I’m ready to help you achieve your goals.

As part of my lessons, I will help find performance opportunities for your student. This includes recitals, private home concerts, competitions, drum lines, joining a band, playing at jam sessions, and auditioning for music schools.

Why Music Lessons?

Big brains

“There are structural differences (usually in the form of increased gray matter volume) in somatosensory areas, premotor cortex, inferior temporal and frontal regions, as well as the cerebellum in the brains of musicians compared to non-musicians.” - Frontiers In Neuroscience Review Article

Growth and positivity

“Several recent articles in scientific journals point to the wide range of significant effects that learning and listening to music has on the brain development of children and adolescents. Other studies reveal that when parents share musical experiences with children and teens, including listening and/or dancing to music, as well as singing songs together, it has a positive effect on parent-child relationships.” - Robert Myers, PhD - UC Irvine

All the cool kids are doing it

“According to conductor Leon Botstein, Albert Einstein began playing music when he was 5.”
